Games Workshop has a great write up about unboxing the Island of Blood starter set. Looks well made and easy to assemble or put together.

This is what you are going to get from the Island of Blood, a 10 man (or elf) High Elves Seaguard unit. Enjoy its glory. That champion still needs a head swap! Oh check out the Reaver too. Really nice.

Sword Master Champion – Like all of the champion and character models in The Island of Blood, this model has a name: Bladelord Kalaer.

Sword Master Standard Bearer – the detail is sculpted onto this banner, which makes you need only add paint for a great looking banner.

All right, here we go, more new painted figures from the Island of Blood.

Ellyrian Reaver Champion – Eltheus Farsight leads his unit of Ellyrian Reavers, the Dawn Riders, in daring raids against the enemy’s flanks.

Lothern Sea Guard Standard Bearer – the elven runes, waves and sea dragon are actually sculpted onto the Sea Guard’s banner.

If these High Elves Horses are an example of the new horse models to come, I will be really pleased and excited! Hoping really for a plastic Dragon Princes/Silver Helms combo set now.

What just happened here? Ok, the release of the High Elves Island of Blood models were all going so well with the Griffin and all, when suddenly we are hit with this! A vampire looking mage with a fountain pen on his head, and a stunted looking Lothern Seaguard champion with 70’s retro horror movie merman helmet? Or better still, a fish on his head?

Check out this awesome Lothern Sea Guard musician from the Island of Blood boxset painted by ‘Eavy Metal team. That is a really sweet model and a fantastic paint job to boot!

Check out this awesome unboxing of the Island of Blood Warhammer 8th edition starter set! The exclusive models, only found in the box set, are some of the best I have seen! Interestingly if you look closely, the swordmasters are one single model. Very interesting indeed!

Ah, looks like the box set also comes with a mini rulebook that has the complete rules but without the pages of painted figures or models. Pre-order it on the 10th of August!

Oh man! I’m so excited as well, I sincerely hope that there are some new High Elves models on the way. At least we know that the Swordmasters will be new as, if you believe in the rumor, they will come in plastic. Anyone want the Skaven models?

The folks over at Warseer has updated this information with the following:

The release date seems to be 4th of September, with the price being £60/$99/€80.

Included are High Elves and Skaven, the contents seem to be:

One mage
One noble on griffon
10 Swordmasters with full command
10 Sea Guard with full command
5 Reavers

One warlord
One warlock engineer
20 Clanrats with handweapon and shield
20 Clanrats with spears and shield
One Warpfire Thrower
One Poisoned Wind Mortar
Two Rat Ogres with Master Moulder

This may or may not be everything for the models.

Other contents include templates, dice, and of course a small rulebook, including the full rules for WHF 8th.

~None of these are the current models from currently available sprues, not even the clanrats. The clanrats (read: not slave sprues) have fixed shields on 20 of them and I believe are 2-part models(like much of the box, thus very easy to assemble).

~The banners are “textured/raised” and are specific to the swordmasters and sea guard (someone posted pics from the UK? where the banners look switched), meaning you can spray, basecoat and drybrush for the “free hand” challenged among us. Someone can correct me, but this is only such type of banner I ever seen for Warhammer…a first?
~The skaven bits will be a goldmine for conversion types. Can do the rest of the weapon teams with only minimal conversion skill.
~Release was quoted as Sept 9th (perhaps that Saturday? dunno).
~Price was retail 99.00 US Dollars.
~I saw no other terrain bitz people are claiming in the box (no objective markers etc). There was some template stuff.

Gosh, that Noble on a Griffin is sweet! I also like how the Reavers are looking as well. I’m not too crash hot on the Swordmasters as they are looking chunky, probably due to the constraints of multi-part design.

This October is a great time for the children of Ulthuan and High Elf players around the Studio have been getting excited in preparation. Not only is Games Workshop releasing a veritable host of fantastic new High Elf miniatures, but the website and White Dwarf will also be packed full of High Elf-related goodness, from tactics articles to step-by-step painting advice and swathes of new background.

The pages of White Dwarf will also contain more information in coming months as well as a special High Elf-focused issue in October that no High Elf collector, nor fan of the background of Warhammer, will want to miss.

Here is what the rumor mill at Warseer has gathered: Harry, who has proven in the past quite reliable, has heard that the new models are Dragon Princes, White Lions and Pheonix Guards. He has also added he heard of some new metal characters and other stuff.

All I can say is AWESOME! We are finally getting new models! I’m hoping for new Spear Elves and Silver Helm as well as the plastic Swordmasters. How about you? What are you hoping for?
